Teaching

I am an Associate Professor in Anthropology within the Material Culture subsection of the Department of Anthropology at University College London.

I teach a lecture course entitled Art in the Public Sphere for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The module has around 100 students each year from anthropology, art history, urban studies, and a host of other disciplines. In 2017-2018 I held four public lectures as part of the series, featuring the artists Zach Blas, Clara Balaguer, Filippo Minelli, and Khadija Von Zinnenburg Carroll.

Please find the reading list for Art in the Public Sphere attached HERE.

Alongside this I convene the compulsory first year Anthropology course Introduction to Material Culture (a survey course addressing issues such as Objects, Museums, Art, Images, alongside Consumption & Fashion, Landscape & the Built Environment, Infrastructure & the Digital, and Techniques & Technology) as well as teaching on a variety of other UG and PG courses on curating, anthropology of art, and multimodal methodologies amongst other themes.

I also regularly give one-off lectures in the UK and internationally. In the last four years I have been asked to present keynote papers at institutions such as The Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, Green Papaya in Manila, and both The Frei University and Genshagen Foundation in Berlin.
